One of my real delights is to go on the streets of Cambridge and sketch. Sometimes I go with others, sometimes on my own. I find it relaxing and it really improves my drawing skills. Amazingly, I hardly ever get people come and look or chat - not sure whether they are oblivious to what I am doing or just don't want to interrupt.
Occasionally I sell one of my sketches but usually they sit in my sketchbook and can be seen whenever I have an exhibition or similar.
The first sketch is of the Green Dragon pub in Chesterton, an area of Cambridge in the north of the city. The pub is really old and is opposite a common. It has an outdoor garden but I took a stool and sat next to some rather smelly bins to draw.
The second sketch was of some street artists during the 'Out of the Ordinary Festival'. I must admit to being so wrapped up with the performances, I didn't use my sketchbook but took photos and made sketches back at home. These acts were two of my favourites by #DoWhatYaMamaToldYa and #SidBowfin. They really had the audience in their hands.
Painter living in Cambridge. Mixes fantasy and realism and loves medieval art and it's detail. An avid sketcher.
